Bleak
There's no doubt now, the outlook is Bleak, Very Bleak.
This weekend the death toll passed 1,200 people in the UK.
Just shy of 20,000 people in the UK have tested positive for Coronavirus.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer in England says some form of restriction could be in place until September or October, and Scotland's CMO says the current restrictions could be in place until the beginning of July. Our lives as we know it are not going to be the same for a very long time.
The death toll and new cases are rising every day, and we are not near the peak yet.
I will be doing a future blog titled "Blame", apportioning blame as I see it for this outbreak and the response to it. But for now it isn't time for that, this country and the world is in a dangerous moment.
It is not an overstatement to say that this is the most dangerous moment the world has seen since the second world war. There have been 33,900 deaths worldwide, with a further 26,000 people in a serious or critical condition.
There are over 530,000 active cases and the number of cases have increased by over 400,000 within the last 10 days. It is accelerating.
Governments around the world are panicking, and are struggling to cope with this unprecedented situation.
199 countries around the world have been affected by this crisis.
Whatever way you put it, this is astounding. The outlook is bleak.
Sorry for such a stark blog, but perhaps people need to realise that the UK and the world is in deep trouble.
I am not going to mention my personal activity today, because this crisis is far bigger than all of us.
Our streets are hushed, it is a silent night. Eerily so.
